PINK LIGHT BURLESQUE

is a program founded by The New York School of Burlesque offering free classes to breast cancer patients and survivors. Burlesque celebrates the human drive to amuse, provoke, charm, and seduce. The Pink Light Burlesque project invites survivors to take classes to experience the joyous and body-loving fun so many burlesque students embrace. These classes are held in honor of Jennie Lee, the founder of The Burlesque Hall of Fame, who passed away from Breast Cancer in 1990. We are not yet a nonprofit, but we gratefully accept donations for specific documentable purposes, as we are preparing to launch into our first session for 2012. For instance, Duane Park donated funds to pay for our studio rental for our first series, and significant support was provided by Night Owls, Champagne Riot and The Friends & Family of Diane Naegel.

THIS SHOW IS PAST BUT YOU CAN SEE PHOTOS FROM IT ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE LINKED BELOW.
You can also see a report on one of our students' experiences on TIME.com.

Our first-ever showcase, featuring performances by students and instructors of the program. Featuring fabulously fun and sexy solos, the show also boasts a group number and a Q&A with the cast.

Ticket pricing is tiered, to make the event affordable for as many people as possible. Advance tickets are $10, $15, and $20. If any tickets are remaining the night of the show, they will be available for cash purchase at the door for $25 preferred, $20 second tier, and $15 third tier. Visibility is perfect from all seats; lower prices are furthest from the stage. This is a small venue and seating is strictly limited, so do not wait to buy tickets. Priority seating in the front two rows is available to donors and sponsors.

The show is dedicated to our friend Diane Naegel, who was hoping to perform as part of the project but lost her battle with breast cancer due to complications on September 25. Our hearts go out to her and her friends and family, and to all others experiencing the same struggle.

The proceeds of the show will benefit You Can Thrive, Sloan Kettering, and the operation of Pink Light Burlesque.
